About the Club

The Society of Yuan-Chi Studies in the Washington area, under the leadership of Ms., Sung-Chao Li, has grown into a strong and mature civic organization over the years, continually attracting new members while watching existing members grow and improve. In 2001, Ms. Li travelled to study Kang-Fu Dance “Spring Everywhere on Earth” and returned to Washington after mastering the dance. She first taught the dance to Yuan-Chi instructors in the area but moved on to provide step-by-step instructions to students in her class. Everyone in the class appreciates and values the weekly practice. The class has learned the different sections of the dance – “Early Budding of the Golden Lotus”, “Golden Lotus in Full Bloom”, “Welcoming the Spring and Receiving Blessings”, “Spring Returns to Earth”, and “Spring Everywhere on Earth”. Every student is engrossed by the elegant steps and movements.

Yuan Chi dance is an exercise that can nurture the character and cultivate the mind. It is good for strengthening the body and increasing balance and harmony. It combines taichi, wushu, and dance and works with Chinese music to create lively and elegant movements. This exercise is suitable for people of all ages and does not require a dance partner.

Additionally, Yuan-Chi Society [roduced a video tape instructing Section 1-Section 4 of the Yuan-Chi dance. The tape provides a demonstration by Sunh-chao Li, Xiu-Zi Li, Shao-Rong Liang, and Shuang-Zhu Chen.

The Yuan-Chi class has adults from middle-age all the way to seniors who are past their 80s. During group practice sessions, the class is always filled with joy, togetherness, and a sense of achievement. Furthermore, Yuan-Chi class has participated in many community activities.
