Adult ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Program

It provides basic English language and life skills instruction to county residents whose native language is not English.  Levels begin with basic literacy through advanced. Most classes are tuition free. Students take a test to find the best class for them. The Program is funded and supported by Montgomery Coalition for Adult English Literacy (MCAEL)

Classes include: Pronunciation & Vocabulary, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 and Conversation classes are set according to the student's language proficiency. There are two semesters each year, 15 weeks in the Fall and Spring semesters. Classes meet for two hours each week.

History: Adult ESOL was established in 1988, initially under the joint sponsorship of ACAMP and CCACC. At the beginning, the classes were only for children of new immigrants and were later extended to adult immigrants. Since 1992, the adult English program has been run by CCACC exclusively. Over the past ten years, the program has witnessed significant growth.
