Cantonese Opera
Founded in October, 2001 by Liang Guo Keng, the Cantonese Opera Club aims to preserve and promote the Chinese traditional art. At present there are 25 members. Cantonese Opera, with the honorary title of “Red Beans of Southern Country”, is a treasure of Chinese arts. Its melody and rhythm is elegant and beautiful. Cantonese Opera, full of melody, color and artistry, is well-known worldwide. There are many opera lovers in the Washington area. Since the establishment of the Cantonese Opera Club, the Cantonese started to sing Cantonese songs, and Cantonese Karaoke became popular. Then they organized an orchestra. The goal is to improve their singing to such a level that they can perform on the stage. In the second and third quarter of this year, the Club has been planning to hold a number of “Cantonese Karaoke” appreciation meetings. At the end of the year or the beginning of next year, the Club plans to hold a Washington area Canton opera karaoke competition.
