About the Club

WQER-LP 96.7 FM Radio was is a public radio station established in 2017 and licensed by the FCC. The radio station broadcasts 24/7 in the state of Maryland. Its mission is to provide services to multicultural communities through diverse radio programs, develop common traditional culture and values, and facilitate cultural exchange. WQER broadcasts programs from different community groups, embracing the variety of different styles.

WQER covers the Rockville, Gaithersburg, Germantown, North Bethesda, North Potomac, and Montgomery Village areas (all located in Montgomery County). It is the only Chinese public radio station in Maryland.

The majority of program content comes from Sound of Hope, which is a North American radio station that is popular amongst the Chinese community. Their programs are better fitted towards the lifestyle of Chinese Americans. WQER also includes a variety of content from local communities.

Understanding the cultural differences between Chinese communities and Taiwanese communities, WQER offers programs to serve both communities and covers everything from recent news to community evets to legal information to popular music.
